AFC President and CEO Meets with Zambian President to Discuss infrastructure Partnerships
Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) President and CEO, Samaila Zubairu, recently met with the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, and his team to discuss possible partnerships in bridging Zambia’s infrastructure gap and that of the African continent as a whole.
The meeting was also an opportunity for AFC to explore collaboration opportunities with the Zambian government in promoting the beneficiation of Africa’s abundant raw materials and driving import substitution.
President Hichilema expressed his determination to ensure that Zambia and Africa as a whole do not export raw materials and people, but rather finished products and skills.
The two parties discussed enhanced public and private partnerships to accelerate economic development in Zambia and throughout Africa.
The AFC remains committed to building public-private partnerships to deliver measurable impact on the continent and is looking forward to executing critical infrastructure projects in Zambia to further spur economic development.
The Zambian government expressed its gratitude to the AFC and other partners for expressing interest in joining hands to turn around the country’s economy, emphasizing the importance of looking within for economic solutions before looking elsewhere.
